Eat Pray Love

I picked up Eat Pray Love over the weekend and I have been barely able to put it down. Elizabeth Gilbert was a 30 something freelance writer, living in New York and going through a painful divorce. She decides to embark on a 1 year long journey of which she spends 4 months in Italy, 4 months in India and 4 months in Bali.
She goes to Italy in search of pleasure and spends the majority of her day engaging in conversation and eating fabulous food. In India, she goes in search of prayer and spirituality and in Bali, she tries to find a balance of the two.
I can see a little bit of Gilbert in myself. After college, I spent a year traveling and working in Taiwan. I thought I might spend a year in Taiwan, another in Thailand and maybe one more year abroad in Vietnam or China, but after 2 typhoons, a flood and 3 earthquakes in Taiwan, I was ready to come home.
I love Gilberts humor and her writing style. She evokes images that take her reader along for the journey, which makes me so excited to go to Italy next month because she made me feel like I was already there.
